Hi! I am Silviu, I founded RC Monkeys in 2018 with the goal to transform the state of building documentation and share my passion for buildings with the world.
My story as a building documentation professional begins in 2009 when my wife and I decided to move to the US. Having spent 4 years working on construction sites, all I wanted to do was to advance my career as a structural engineer. With that goal in mind, I undertook two master’s programs, studying Structural Engineering and Construction Management.
During my first year of studies, I was introduced to BIM and 3D Laser Scanning. I was hooked. Motivated by the idea of using technology to bridge the design and construction industries, I decided to deepen my knowledge and chase this newfound passion.
I spent more than a decade learning everything I could on the topics of digital design, building documentation, and historic preservation, with the goal of maximizing the value for our clients with each project delivery
My friends and family tell me that my passion for building design and construction is a little obsessive. I cannot visit new places without touching surfaces, knocking on walls, and staring at details. What can I say? I find buildings fascinating.
